¶ Matins: Poème trouvé: “To the Uptight Guy on the 6 Train at 77th St. Station.”

¶ Tierce: An initial decision, against going to the movies today — I’ve got lots to do in preparation for tomorrow’s luncheon, after all, and I don’t want to be running around at the last minute — was overturned when I discovered that The Other Boleyn Girl is showing around the corner at 10:30.

¶ Compline: The most incredibly occupied day. Read all about it below.

Oremus…

§ Matins. I came across this trouvaille while trying to explain Craigslist to my good friend Migs — who was too polite to say that he didn’t need to have Craigslist explained to him.

Migs and I chatted for about an hour and a half, or until Migs could be excused for wanting to get on with his life. It was, after all, first thing in the morning for him. I was simply waiting for Kathleen to signal that she was coming home, so that I might order dinner from Jackson Hole. I could have yakked all night — and Migs had every reason to fear that I just might.

§ Tierce. Kristin plays Mom. How can I resist the opportunity to hear big Hollywood stars make historically inconceivable remarks? (I won’t be surprised if Cate Blanchett makes her debut in utero appearance.)

§ Compline. Movie — Museum (cafeteria for lunch, plus all three big shows: Poussin, Courbet, Johns) — Greenberg’s for backup dessert — Home & Housecleaning — Back to the kitchen for the Dacquoise: meringues — Movie write-up; nearly finished but not quite (by now it’s well past dark) — Dinner with Kathleen across the street — Setting the table — Making a pralin (almond brittle) for the dessert — Washing the glasses — Calling it a day, even though there’s still too much to do tomorrow.

Wish I could have been here!
